Global mobility and student finance: resources
Last updated on Wednesday 8 May 2024 at 4:54pm
Here, Charmaine Valente, Account Manager at the Student Loans Company, compiles the resources used in their recent presentation to Global Mobility teams across the UK.
I was delighted to have delivered, alongside my colleagues from the SLC Study Abroad Team, three webinars to over 220 staff from Global Mobility departments within UK universities.
All three sessions raised excellent questions. Thank you to UUKi, who are hosting our presentations and FAQs on this site.
Salient points:
- It is recommended that all universities use the ‘spreadsheet’ as this encapsulates all the information we require in one place.
- Four-letter code protects the spreadsheet – Each university has a four-letter code which is mainly used by the course management team. These departments usually sit within your registry/fees.
- Turing funding impacts the funding students receive from student finance maintenance loans. We recommend you advise your students when applying for student finance to NOT tick Turing funding on their application, as these students will not know if they are entitled to Turing funding until the universities have been informed of their allocation. SFE applications launch usually in early February.
- The Study Abroad Team have sent out the spreadsheet to our contacts with guidance on how to complete - you can find these with our presentations (both are available to download at this link and this link).
- If you’d like to receive my monthly bulletins, please contact me to add your details to the Funding Information Account Managers central list of contacts.
