Alcohol and drugs can be a key factor in sexual violence, as evidenced by polling data from HEPI’s recent Student Relationships, Sex and Sexual Health Survey and testimonies on the Everyone’s Invited website.
In July 2021, the UK Healthy Universities Network hosted a seminar with Universities UK and the Office for Students, to explore the interaction of alcohol and drugs and sexual misconduct. This briefing looks at case-studies with practical steps taken by universities to address these issues, along with resources which will support universities as they prepare to welcome a new cohort of students for the start of the academic year.
