This guidance, published in 2021, suggests actions universities can take to tackle antisemitism. It builds on the principles of our Changing the culture framework and outlines how the recommendations in our tackling racial harassment guidance may be applied to antisemitic racial harassment. Antisemitism – prejudice or hatred towards Jews – is wrong and should not be tolerated at universities or anywhere in society.
We strongly urge universities to do all they can to tackle antisemitism. This is particularly important given the historically high levels of antisemitism in the UK.
The briefing suggests actions and best practices for three common issues:
- limited understanding of antisemitism
- under-reporting of antisemitic incidents and issues with complaints processes
- online harassment
