The UK and India have today signed an agreement officially recognising each other's higher education qualifications.
Speaking of the announcement, Vivienne Stern MBE, Director, Universities UK International said:
The mutual recognition of qualifications between the UK and India is a momentous breakthrough in the UK-India relationship. This long-awaited agreement delivers on the commitment in the India-UK Roadmap and demonstrates the value that both countries place in cooperation in education and research. Qualifications students receive will be recognised on both sides, making it easier for students to progress in education and move into jobs. The recognition of UK masters degrees is a particularly important development. It means that Indian graduates of the UK’s outstanding universities will receive formal recognition of their outstanding achievements and full access to jobs in the public sector in India.
India's National Education Policy is already boosting collaboration between the two countries in higher education and research. We would like to formally acknowledge the dedication of colleagues from the UK and India who have enabled this agreement to be reached. We look forward to continuing our work to further our partnership.
