Professor Nic Beech is Vice-Chancellor of the University of Salford.
Previously, Nic has been the Vice-Chancellor of Middlesex University, Vice-Principal of the University of St Andrews and Provost of Dundee University. He is Chair of the UK Standing Committee for Quality Assessment, a Commissioner on the International Higher Education Commission and Treasurer and on the Board of the Academy of Social Sciences.
Nic’s academic background is in business and management and his research focused on identity, diversity, change leadership and learning. He was the longest-serving President of the British Academy of Management.
One of the things I love about my job is working to foster an inclusive culture in which there is real excitement about the creation of knowledge and the impact of education on the lives of students. For me, this is about trying to support the community to develop as a learning organisation and it is where practice and research of educational leadership come together.
