Professor Nic Beech was first elected Treasurer of the UUK UK Board on 1 August 2023 and is currently serving his second term following re-election in 2025. Professor Beech is chair of both the UUK Resources Committee and Remuneration Committee. Professor Beech has contributed his knowledge and experience to several UUK task and finish groups, including the Woburn House Development Group.
Professor Beech has been Vice-Chancellor of the University of Salford since September 2023, having previously been Vice-Chancellor of Middlesex University and a Vice-Principal of the University of St Andrews.
Professor Beech is chair of The Quality Council for UK Higher Education, the UK mental health charity Student Minds, and the National Union of Students’ Steering Group on Tackling Antisemitism. He is also a board member of QAA, chair of the FE/HE SORP Board, and former member of the Secretary of State’s Curriculum and Assessment Review panel for England.
