Professor Sanders joined the UK Board as an elected member on 1 August 2026. Professor Sanders is also a member of the UUK Membership Committee.
Professor Sanders has been Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Royal Holloway, University of London since October 2022.
Professor Sanders has brought her expertise to several UUK networks and groups: UUKi Twinning Conference and UUK Sustainability and Climate Action Steering Group. She is a trustee of London Higher and on the Higher Education Policy Institute Advisory Board. She has also served on steering groups for: Research England and the Australian Research Council. She has undertaken research review exercises in Ireland and Sweden and previously held grants from the AHRC, ESRC, British Academy and Leverhulme Trust. In 2025, she was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant by the Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey.
I love my job for so many reasons, but if I have to single something out it is the daily pleasure of watching students and colleagues thrive and find their passion through education and research.
