Now an annual study, this report looks at the numbers of students that UK universities reported in their annual data return to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) as studying for degrees outside of the UK, ie transnational education (TNE). This is the second time that the data has been analysed at a regional level and offers insights into the quickly changing nature and priorities of TNE.
This report is presented in three sections. Firstly, it looks at how universities are performing by UK HE TNE student numbers, what type of TNE provision is most popular, and the level of study. Secondly, it reviews these data in the context of global location, looking at the spread of students by region, type and level of study. Finally, there is a series of studies by region, which looks at UK HE TNE patterns by global location.
