Institutions have invested in Internationalisation at Home activities for many years as they provide wide benefits to students. Such activities and projects tend to be based on-campus, in local communities or through the virtual classroom and offer international and intercultural experiences for all students taking part. Due to the pandemic and in response to the climate crisis, many institutions are considering ways in which students can still receive an international experience while remaining on campus. Internationalisation at Home initiatives are being increasingly identified as a means to help students gain international competences and become globally agile graduates in new ways.
This report highlights the different types of activities that are being carried out by universities and the positive effects they are having on students and campuses, including breaking down barriers to physical mobility and making campuses more inclusive and sustainable spaces.
This report looks at case studies from three nations to illustrate these points: UK, Australia, and the USA.
