UUK responds to the Science and Technology Secretary's speech at the UKRI Growth Summit

The UK is really good at research, discovery and innovation, and our universities are amongst the best in the world. The government is right to double down on this as an area of real strength, and a reason to be optimistic about the future of the UK. 

Today's announcement sets out a clear framework to help the public and politicians see the real benefits that research brings to our everyday lives. World-leading research is happening right now at universities across the length and breadth of the country, helping us respond to global challenges, creating great jobs and driving local growth. It is great to see the government recognise the value of curiosity-driven research and funding for QR and HEIF remain stable, so universities from all four corners of the UK can continue to deliver for the country and power the industrial strategy.
