Today Juliette Enser, Executive Director of Competition Enforcement at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has published a blog outlining the role that the CMA can play in supporting greater collaboration in the higher education sector.
Responding to concerns that wariness around competition law can be a barrier to collaboration, the blog provides points to consider when embarking on joint initiatives, areas where providers can collaborate that are unlikely to give rise to competition law concerns, and their intention to understand where the CMA can provide further support on more complex areas such as collaboration on course provision.
UUK has been engaging with the CMA as part of our work on higher education transformation and efficiency. We welcome this proactive approach to providing clarity, and look forward to continuing to work with them and other government departments to build on this.
The full blog can be found on the CMA website.
