Overview
The publication of the UK’s new International Education Strategy provides a timely backdrop for discussion on the future of transnational education (TNE). Since the last strategy was published in 2019, the global TNE landscape has evolved significantly. While TNE continues to grow in importance, the sector is navigating the path towards more sustainable and locally-embedded models.
This follow-on webinar reunites the ‘Breaking the TNE Mould’ panel for another candid discussion of TNE and its future. The session will explore emerging trends and experiences across key regions, including:
- India, where recent developments – such as the University of Southampton’s Delhi campus – are opening doors to a new generation of TNE provision
- China, where large-scale Sino-foreign programmes and a growing number of approved joint partnerships continue to shape the operating environment
- South East Asia, where innovative partnership models and deep institutional engagement, including the University of Glasgow’s experience, offer valuable insights
- Africa, an increasingly important TNE region, where institutions such as Exeter are learning how to successfully navigate the next phase of development
Drawing on experience from the forefront of these initiatives, the panel will share candid insight on institutional innovation, working with local regulators, and responding to the shifting geopolitical currents shaping TNE’s trajectory.
With a forward-looking lens on locally-embedded models, this webinar will challenge business-as-usual thinking and spotlight a bold new playbook for TNE in 2026 and beyond.
The webinar lineup will feature:
