My teams cover funding policy, regulation of UK universities and a cross-cutting analysis function which underpins work across policy groups and beyond.
I'm on secondment from DSIT, where I was previously Deputy Director for Strategy. I've been a civil servant for over twelve years now, with policy and analysis roles in DfE, Cabinet Office, MoJ and BEIS/DSIT. I was briefly private secretary to Rory Stewart in his time as Prisons Minister, which was quite an experience! I started as a maths teacher in inner-city Birmingham and am a lifelong believer in the power of education to change lives.
Universities are incredibly important national assets for the UK and I care deeply about their success. I love working at the interface of policy and public affairs and having an impact on important decisions that shape the future of the UK. I enjoy the chance to have a real impact on higher education policy, and look forward to working with you to make a difference.
