Record numbers of applicants have secured a place at their first choice of university this autumn, with universities preparing to maximise opportunities for in-person teaching, support and social activities for a much fuller experience this year.
As Clearing opens, admissions teams across the UK are ready to help all students with the potential to succeed at university find a place, with students who have missed their offers advised to contact their first choice university as soon as possible.
Universities will continue their focus on supporting the new intake as they transition to degree study ahead of the start of term, with academic and wellbeing support programmes in place at universities across the UK.
We are delighted to see that record numbers of applicants have had their places at university confirmed today, after what has been an exceptionally challenging year. For those who haven't got the grades they hoped, admissions teams are ready to help everyone with the potential to succeed at university find a place, and will take this year's circumstances into account when making decisions.
Embarking on a degree is a uniquely exciting time, with the skills and experience students set to gain lasting a lifetime, giving them an edge in the employment market and generating significant benefits for the UK as we rebuild from the pandemic. Universities will continue prioritising the health and safety of students while preparing for a much fuller in-person experience this year, and look forward to welcoming students in the autumn.
