Two senior Universities UK leaders are among the recipients from the world of higher education to be recognised in the New Year Honours list for 2022.
Alistair Jarvis, Chief Executive of Universities UK, has been awarded a CBE and Vivienne Stern, Director of Universities UK International, has been awarded an MBE. Each have been honoured for their outstanding contribution to the UK’s higher education sector.
It is a privilege to support and promote our universities which deliver such a positive impact for individuals, communities and the United Kingdom. I am delighted, and it is humbling, to be honoured with a CBE for services to higher education.
I have had the good fortune to work with many talented people at Universities UK and across the higher education sector. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the fantastic people that have supported me and to acknowledge their impressive work through the challenges of the pandemic.
Alistair Jarvis CBE
Chief Executive of Universities UK
It is a real privilege and a pleasure to work on behalf of the UK’s fantastic universities, and to ensure that they are well placed to welcome international students from around the world, and to offer their courses overseas. Working alongside colleagues in the Department for International Trade, and the Department for Education, we have seen strong growth in an area where the UK really excels.
I am deeply honoured to be awarded an MBE, and would like to acknowledge and thank all those – professionally and personally – who have supported me.
