Levelling up

As part of Getting Results, which highlights how universities will help the country bounce back stronger in the next five years, our levelling up phase of campaigning focuses on ensuring that no area or person is left behind.

Background

In February 2022, the UK Government published its White Paper on Levelling Up, pledging to give everyone the opportunity to flourish and live longer, more fulfilling lives. Its ambition is to end geographical inequality by boosting growth across the whole country.

Universities are at the centre of economic regeneration, bringing together student populations, research partners, and local employers to create vibrant communities, jobs, prosperity, and opportunity across the UK.

Following on from our Getting Results campaign we are working with universities across the UK to showcase the importance of Levelling Up and the impact that higher education has for students, graduates, local businesses, communities and beyond.

Case studies

I never saw university as being a place for someone like me. I’m just a working-class lad from Allenton. And then, when you come to the realisation that not only is it a place for someone like you but you can do really well there, it’s empowering.
