Students who spend some time abroad working, studying or volunteering achieve better degrees and get better jobs, and the number of students going abroad is rising each year. However, not all students in the UK participate in outward mobility at the same rate.
On Tuesday 13 December 2022, Science and Technology Minister George Freeman announced phase one of a new global research fund, International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF), at an event in Tokyo, Japan. This initial phase of the fund will be opened with £119m worth of funding to allow UK scientists and innovators to collaborate with peers around the world on some of the most pressing issues facing our planet.

Universities UK International’s (UUKi) UK-Ukraine R&I twinning grants scheme provides funding until 31 August 2023 for eligible higher education institutions participating in the UK-Ukraine Twinning Initiative, coordinated by the Cormack Consultancy Group (CCG), to develop bespoke programmes of work that address the reciprocal research and innovation needs of both Ukrainian and UK institutions and researchers.
