This is our response to the Department for Education (DfE) consultation on the de-designation of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) as the Designated Quality Body (DQB) in England.
Our review of progress made in 2021–22 shows that universities have taken significant action in the past year to protect degree standards, so that students, employers and the public can be confident of the value and high standards of UK degrees.

Data collection can be a significant burden for universities, and we welcome changes proposed by the Office for Students (OfS) which will reduce this burden.

The Office for Students' (OfS) strategy is helpful in confirming its priorities for the next three years, and we support its focus on quality and standards and equal opportunity.
We need fresh thinking to help people of all ages and backgrounds to reskill and retrain as the nation recovers and rebuilds from the impact of Covid-19.
