University leaders are warning that proposed reforms to post 18 education and funding in England would turn back the clock on social mobility while limiting the government’s own levelling up agenda.
Vivienne Stern MBE has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Universities UK (UUK), the organisation which represents 140 universities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. She will take up this role from September 2022.
Urgent action is needed from the UK Government to bridge the funding gap while it sets up its replacement for European Union funding for local skills and training partnerships.
