Universities are complex institutions, with multiple functions and constituencies.
Mental health informs all these functions, and is important to all those who are living, learning and working in higher education institutions.
The two following checklists – strategy and implementation – aim to support the adoption of a whole university approach to mental health.
It is recognised that the checklists are a starting point and that they may not include all features that are relevant to each individual institution.
The strategy checklist is intended for university leaders, supporting them in the consideration of aspects that need to be included when making mental health a strategic priority.
Leadership and support goes across learning, living and working environments.
The implementation checklist is intended for operational staff, to allow them to implement the vision and the strategy produced by the university leadership.
As in the strategy checklist, support surrounds all the three university environments.
