Sir Michael Barber gives speech at Universities UK


Sir Michael Barber, the incoming chair of the new Office for Students (OfS), has given his inaugural speech today at Universities UK.

The OfS is the new regulator for higher education in England and it is due to be established formally from April 2018.

In the context of the recently passed Higher Education and Research Act 2017​, Sir Michael outlined the future role of the OfS as one of stewardship of the UK higher education sector, which he referred to as the 'jewel in the nation's crown'.
