New report on international student recruitment
Universities UK International (UUKi) has published a new report on the UK’s student recruitment performance. The report examines how the UK can become a more attractive study destination to international students, and is a follow-up to Part 1, published in 2020.
International student recruitment is becoming increasingly competitive. Although the UK was still ranked the second most popular study destination globally in 2018, its position has become vulnerable.
The report has four main recommendations to ensure the UK remains competitive:
- Improve the promotion of the UK as a welcoming, diverse and accessible study destination.
- Ensure the success of the Graduate route.
- Reduce financial barriers for international students through the creation of more diverse and innovative funding opportunities.
- Support the improvement of English language ability.
