Alistair Jarvis, our Chief Executive since 2017, will be leaving us in June next year to take up a new role at the University of London as Pro Vice-Chancellor Partnerships and Governance.
Alistair has been a member of the UUK senior management team since 2013, previously as Deputy Chief Executive and Director of External Relations. Before joining UUK, he was a Director at the University of Birmingham and has previously held communications, campaigning and political relations roles for national organisations in both the public and private sectors.
Professor Steve West CBE, President of UUK, said:
Alistair’s leadership and engagement throughout his time at UUK has been outstanding, and I know UUK colleagues and members will be very sad to see him leave. I am sure there will be many more challenges and opportunities for higher education and for Alistair and his team to manage over the next six months until he leaves the organisation, and I look forward to continue working alongside him during this period.
Alistair will continue in his role at UUK during his notice period and will join the University of London in June 2022. UUK will be moving to establish a process to recruit its next chief executive shortly.
