Degree apprenticeships and higher technical education in England attract high-calibre learners and equip students with the knowledge and skills needed in a rapidly changing economy. UUK’s priority is to support the efforts to grow the provision.
This one-day conference is focused on engaging delegates in positive action to increase the number of degree apprentices and the number of employers recruiting them. Come and hear about our ten-point plan that we are developing, in collaboration with key stakeholders, and contribute to collective action that aims to shape policy and create a step change in the degree apprenticeship provision.
Join us online on 1 February 2023 as we look to the future of higher technical education and discuss how to make sure that both higher technical qualifications and degree apprenticeships are central to the government, and public, discussion of education and their contribution to the UK economy.
Please note: In light of the recent train strike announcement for Wednesday 1 February, this conference will now be held fully online.

Degree Apprenticeships could be used as a driver for social mobility and access to higher education, but it is not yet being recognised for its full potential. Students who are interested in undergraduate study and degree apprenticeships may not be receiving enough information to help them make an informed choice. SME’s could be the ideal place for degree apprenticeships to thrive, however, there are barriers that prevent engagement and participation. In this session we will hear from providers that have successful SME partnerships and what can be done to enable more universities to deliver degree apprenticeships to SME’s.
In our final session of the day, this panel discussion will update on the current state of play with Higher Technical Education, where it is going next and how the system should link up in the future.
