Senior Policy Officer, Sub-Saharan Africa & International Development
Richard is a Senior Policy Officer at Universities UK International. He is responsible for driving UUKi's policy work in sub-Saharan Africa and leading our work on international development. Through this role he leads UUKi’s involvement in SPHEIR, a DFID funded higher education reform programme which UUKi delivers in partnership with the British Council and PwC. He is the Partnership Manager for the TIDE partnership, which is working to improve the quality of distance learning in Myanmar, and the PADILEIA partnership, which is providing education opportunities to Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon.

Before taking up his current role, Richard led UUKi’s work in South Asia, including the higher education strand of the UK India Education Research Initiative (UKIERI). He has also worked in various roles for international development organisations in India and Tanzania. He holds an undergraduate degree in politics and an MSc in International Development from the University of Manchester.
