Julie is Deputy Director of Policy, and leads the team of analysts who work within the policy group at Universities UK, who develop the evidence base underpinning our policy positions. She has responsibility for managing the funding and sustainability programme of work. This covers our policy positions that impact on funding for universities, including teaching, research, and innovation funding, and the undergraduate and postgraduate system of loans. This programme also includes improving the visibility and transparency of financial management in universities, and examining the financial health of the sector.
Julie joined us as Head of Analysis in 2012. Prior to joining Universities UK she was Deputy Head of Policy at the Russell Group. She has worked as an economic adviser in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, an Economist at HM Treasury, and as a Senior Consultant at SQW.
She studied economics to postgraduate level, has a Master of Arts degree from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Commerce, first class honours, degree from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.
