The economic impact of the West Midlands higher education sector

Report cover This report presents key economic aspects of the higher education sector in the West Midlands in the academic year 2011-12 and of the sector’s impact on the region and on the rest of the UK.

It forms part of a series of reports highlighting key economic characteristics of the higher education sector in each of the nine regions of England, including institutional income, employment and expenditure. The reports also examine the knock-on effects of higher education expenditure on the regions, showing how many jobs are dependent on the universities and the contribution being made to Gross Value Added (GVA).
