Patterns and trends in UK higher education 2013

Report cover

2013 Patterns and trends report continues the series on changing trends in higher education and takes the story up to academic year 2011–12. It presents a range of data that shows how the higher education sector has been changing and adapting in a dynamic external environment.

Through effective financial management, and the achievement of significant efficiencies, universities have been able to weather a challenging period and continue to focus on achieving excellent outcomes.

Most of the data used in this report has been provided by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). This data, collected after the end of each academic year, provides a rich source of information on the students, staff and finances of the UK’s higher education sector.
