The Universities UK Health, Education and Research Network works to influence policy on education and research for health and medical professionals.
The Terms of Reference of the Network are:
- Establishing and maintaining effective links, both directly and through sub-groups, with representatives of key external bodies concerned with teaching and research, for the health and medical professions in disciplines relevant to the health care professions.
The Network's current objectives are:
- Support the HE sector in taking the lead on the public health agenda;
- Ensure HEIs are integral to health service workforce planning and production of a sustainable workforce;
- Full implementation of benchmark prices and standard contracts for nursing and AHPs;
- HEIs to be full partners in planning and delivery of health research and development;
- Reduce bureaucracy burden on HEIs;
- Enhanced HEI role in international healthcare education and research;
- European developments - raise awareness of their implications for health and medical education and research; and
- Lead the HE sector’s contribution to education and research planning for this growing workforc
