Universities UK plays a leading role in representing and advising members on funding issues
Universities UK's main work in this area is currently focused on submissions to the Independent Review of University Funding and Student Finance which made its recommendations in October.
Our work on funding also includes submissions to the Government's Comprehensive Spending Reviews. The latest of these was published in October 2010.
We regularly engage with the Funding Councils, including HEFCE, on issues related to funding and management, including responding to formal consultations.
We liaise closely with the British Universities Finance Directors Group (BUFDG), the Committee of University Chairs (CUC) and the Association of Heads of University Administration (AHUA). We also work with the Leadership Foundation for HE on promoting effective governance, leadership and management.
Universities UK provides practical advice for the sector on issues concerning finance and resources. For example, we have published a Statement of recommended practice: accounting for further and higher education.
Other regular functions include negotiation of Island fees; advice on purchasing/procurement and lobbying on key issues for the sector (e.g. VAT on Shared services).
Universities UK is responsible for the UUK Accommodation Code of Practice, working with the Conference of University Business Officers.
