The UK higher education sector has a reputation for quality and excellence, both at home and abroad. However, with funding squeeze, policy uncertainty and new funding arrangements leading to a more critical and discerning student community, the pressure is on for universities and their leaders to ensure that they continue to meet the high standards expected of our sector while delivering value for money.
Since publication of the UUK report on Efficiency and effectiveness in higher education in September 2011, we have been working hard to develop infrastructure that supports efficiency, while higher education professionals have continued to explore new ways of meeting the needs of learners and the academic community and delivering value for money.
This conference presents an opportunity to take stock of the most recent developments in efficiency across the whole institution – including teaching, research and operational areas.
